HISTORY OF KLINGER POWER SPORTS & WEST STREET STORAGE

Klinger Power Sports was established as a partnership by Arthur & Barbara Klinger in 1986 working out of an expanded garage (3,000 sq feet) with 3 employees (all family members) at the home residence located on Freer Hollow Rd, Walton. The business soon outgrew this location and moved to 20 West Street in downtown Walton in 1999 expanding the business to 8,000 sq feet of retail space and expanding the service area adding 4 new employees. Within just a short time this space was also outgrown. When the opportunity came up in 2003 to purchase the old S.J. Bailey & Sons building in Walton it was purchased under the new business of West Street Storage, owner Arthur Klinger Jr. In the fall of 2004, Klinger’s moved into the new location renting 20,000 sq feet of space from West Street Storage and added 4 more new employees. West Street Storage also rents space to other companies (Scott Machine, ARC & RFI) and individuals who store vehicles (cars, trailers, motor homes, boats, etc).

  • Klinger’s Power Sports sells recreational vehicles: Kawasaki ATV’s & Motorcycles; Ski-Doo Snowmobiles and Can-Am ATVs. They also service & repairs most makes and models of recreational vehicles and are an authorized inspection station for trailers and motorcycles.

Klinger Kawasaki & Ski-Doo in Walton must be doing something right. They received the 2001 Kawasaki ATV Dealer of the Year award for the East coast, outselling dealers from Maine to Virginia. What an honor!!! What began as a small family operation on Freer Hollow Road in Walton in 1986 that sold between 30-50 units a year, has grown into an award-winning dealership that sold more ATVs in 2001 than any Kawasaki dealer on the entire East Coast.

Not stopping there, Arthur & Barbara Klinger and daughter, Kathy Shelton, traveled to the Annual Bombardier (Ski-Doo) Conference in Reno, Nevada to receive the 2002 District Ski-Doo Snowmobile Dealer of the Year!!! They were also recently Gold Certified by Bombardier as being an outstanding dealership (not an easy Certification to receive).

Two top awards in just a few months has given this family business new incentive to excel. They have always worked hard to improve service and to treat their customers with respect. Moving into the heart of downtown Walton in 1999 gave them the opportunity to grow. New renovations at the store and the constant influx of new products makes their store a great place to visit.
